Born in Saskatchewan and based in Montreal, producer and songwriter Luke Loseth (Holobody) crafts vast and heavy tunes of crystalline flowers perpetually unfurling. My collaboration with him started with a VHS episode where I made three live music videos for him. Then, he enlisted my help on a music video and album cover artwork that I shot for him at the Stanstead Stone Circle, in my home town of Stanstead, just by the border between Vermont and Quebec. I was able to produce a separate visual poetry film for NOMADslow.tv with these images, which I think is just stunning as Luke has a unique creative spirit that he embodies beautifully. I hope to have the pleasure of collaborating with him again in the future.
Van Horne Sessions, or VHS for short, are live music videos produced in the Montreal Mile End's legendary NOMAD studios, and curated by Couteau Music House. Van Horne is the original home base of such bands as Arcade Fire or Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Consequently, NOMAD hosted such secret shows as Patrick Watson, Dear Criminals, or Barr Brothers to name very few. Coupled with Couteau’s vast connections in Canada’s independent music scene, NOMAD’s award winning filmmaker and Moment Factory founder, Jason Rodi, lending a cinematic vision to every performance.
