On December 4, under the austere brilliance of the Cold Moon, ANTENNAE crossed a threshold.
What began as an experiment two years ago, a gathering of musicians and shadow movers inside NOMAD’s studio, has grown into a fully formed ritual, a living practice shaped by lunar time, silence, attention, and presence. With this 25th chapter, something shifted in the room. The ensemble didn’t simply perform; it cohered.

Each month, ANTENNAE moves at the pace of the Moon, not the clock. Preparation is minimal by design. There are no rehearsals, no planned structures, no set durations. The installation is the same one we inherit each chapter : the cave-like space of silhouettes, antenna projections from across the world, and the soft glow of instruments. But the energy in the room is never the same twice. It reflects those present, and whatever the signals we receive.
The Cold Moon is traditionally a moment of clarity before the cycle turns. This session echoed that symbolism with surprising force. The ensemble played with patience and boldness in equal measure, listening with uncommon attention. Ideas rose and dissolved with precision. The music breathed. It felt less like improvisation and more like a single organism discovering its own coherence.
ANTENNAE has always been about connection to place, to each other, to the space (HERE), and the cosmos (NOW), and the Cold Moon revealed what happens when a practice matures through repetition. After 25 chapters, a shared vocabulary has emerged: minimalist pulses, cosmic textures, melodic fragments, and long arcs shaped by collective intuition. The ritual deepens not through planning, but through surrender.
This milestone also arrives at a moment when ANTENNAE’s wider body of work is expanding. Alongside the weekly recordings that seed my cinematic projects, we have released albums, lunar archives, and large-scale scores, including this year’s 28-hour soundtrack for NOMADslow.tv’s cross-Canada portrait with VIA Rail. Yet the heart of ANTENNAE remains here, in these monthly gatherings, where the music is born in real time and disappears just as quickly into memory.
To mark this threshold, we recorded the entire Cold Moon chapter as it happened, one continuous take, as always. The film is now available, not as documentation but as an extension of the ritual itself. It is an invitation to step inside the space where the ensemble meets the Moon, and where a new cycle has already begun.
As we look ahead to the next gathering on December 31, the Cold Moon stands as a quiet reminder: a ritual only becomes itself with time. Twenty-five chapters in, ANTENNAE feels less like a project and more like a living organism—one that continues to evolve with every moonrise.
